e Ink Tablet for note taking in scripts

Hi!

Does anyone have any tips regarding E Ink tablets for working with scripts in theatre?

I'm doing sound design for a show, and wanted to change my workflow towards a more efficient way, and I like the way the eInk tablets feel. My theatre uses Final Draft to export the scripts in PDF, and the eInk tablet I use (Boox Note air 3 c) feels great to scribble with.

Problem is, I can't seem to find a good way to replace individual pages in the PDF's. Often times, a lot of the text in the script gets edited, so a good way to replace them without needing to replace the whole script (and my notes/annotations) would be awesome.
We also use the page lock function in final draft, so if a new page gets added, e.g. after page 10, it becomes page 10a. This makes my tablet confused (using Neo reader) as it interprets it as page 11. Though it seems as if there's possible to intergrate the page numbers in the PDF somehow..

If anyone has any ideas, I would be super glad for the shared info! 🙏

It's awesome! The feel of it is great, I can much more quickly edit my cues in the script, and I have a quick access function for all of my writing so I can jump to the different cues much quicker. There's a search function, for easily navigating the script, and all of my work gets synced with a chosen cloud.

This is also a device running android, so I can use other apps like Teams to share work with my colleagues, and much more.
So I just need to figure out the PDF editing bit.. Just learned that ChatGPT can edit PDF pages. Haven't tried it yet though.

Please share if you're aware of a good alternative!

Theres a few good PDF editor apps for android, although maybe if there are changes it would best to add/adjust pages on a PC then reload it on the eInk reader for rehearsal.

As far as page numbers, I would make sure the script has them on the pages, and understand that the PDF pages aren't to be used as reference, if you use a specific formatting like Page X, or - X - you would be able to search the PDF to find a page quickly

I looked at ReMarkable2, and Supernote.
Both had excellent feel, and were functional.... BUT I ended up with an Ipad air w/apple pencil.
All in only a little more money, MUCH more responsive, (I use GoodNotes app) excellent markup of other docs and pdf's

Doesn't have the nice feel of e-inks, but the functionality is hard to beat!

iPad Pro with pencil. There are screen protectors to mimic the paper-like feel. I use Notability - import the PDF and off you go. Plus you'll get way more functionality out of an iPad than a dedicated e-ink notebook.
